For this blog post, I am going to tell you everything there is to know about Class Dojo! Class Dojo is an online behavior management tool that you, the teacher, and the students will love! Class Dojo is fun, but also great to communicate with parents! Below is a video that will explain how to set it up, and also how it works!
As you can see, each students in your class is assigned a monster to represent them on Class Dojo. The students have their own portfolios online to keep everything nice and organized. As you seen in the video, or are going to see, is that the kids have numbers by their names and monsters. This number determines how well they are doing in class. The higher the number, the better behaved they are. Communication is important as well, and on Class Dojo, the teacher is able to communicate and send messages to parents through Class Dojo, and the parents are able to see how well their child did if they are signed up for Class Dojo. Class Dojo is a neat and very fun way to keep track of the students' behaviors! If you want to check it out, you can go to www.classdojo.com/ ! Thanks!

The first source I want to talk about is Donors Choose. You can find this information at www.donorschoose.org/ . Donors Choose is a wonderful organization that cares about giving the kids in the classroom the most appropriate and best education that they deserve. They try and provide tools and resources that the students need in order to succeed. This is useful, because I could sign up to be a member to help them give to schools all over. Giving to others would make me appreciate what I have and what my school has compared to schools that are poorer. The next is Pinterest! This site is a fun site that allows people to shop for anything and everything unique and creative! Pinterest has a lot of cute and fun teacher ideas on there anywhere from how to decorate your classroom to how to create fun objects! This site is great for my educational growth, because this allows me to think outside the box a little! I love using Pinterest, and I have actually created a lot of fun teacher things from the ideas found on Pinterest! You can spark your creativity at www.pinterest.com/ ! The last is my favorite, and that is Teachers Pay Teachers! This site, found at www.teacherspayteachers.com/, is an awesome site where teachers can get ideas and teacher lessons from other teachers. There is a price for everything you buy, but it is all very cheap! This is great, because teachers can use these unique lesson plans and teacher ideas in their classroom! Looking at the different lesson ideas by other teachers might spark creativity in teachers as well! Below is a pencil flower vase that I made from Pinterest! As some know, Common Sense Media is a great online resource to go to as a parent or an educator when needing to educate your kids or your students about digital citizenship. On this website, there is a "For Educators" tab and a "For Parents" tab that you can click on to get more information on how to teach your child or student digital citizenship. The first tab I want to talk about is the "For Educators" tab. There are tons of helpful information for teachers, but I am going to focus solely on parent/teacher communication. On Common Sense Media, I learned how to affectively communicate with the parentes of my students without having to worry about an overload of emails every day. I learned that is it super important to set up an email account or another messaging form where you can type something up and with a click of a button, all the parents get your message. The more you inform your students' parents about before it happens, will keep them from sending a billion emails to you every day. It is also super important to have some sort of a mobile/technology class page where the parents and other family members can get on there and see what their child is doing in class. This is also great for posting announcements. The more communication the parent and teacher have, the better the school year will go for the child. The next part of this blog, I want to discuss what Common Sense Media has to offer the parents. Common Sense Media is great for parents that want to have a family night, but don't know what is appropriate or not. Common Sense Media has many different movie reviews and ratings on what age the child should be to watch the movie. This is important, beacuse some parents let their child watch a movie that isn't quite appropriate. There is also a tab the parent can click on if they have an concerns. The most common concerns are listed with a couple of answers. Common Sense Media has a lot of fun, elementary level videos on what digital citzenship is. These videos would be great for to show my students someday. The parents can use this website if they have an questions or concerns with how to help their child use technology appropriately. I might try and show my nine year old sister some of the videos, because I want her to have digital citizenship. Common Sense Media is a great resource for information on digital citizenship. If you would like to get more information, you can check it out at www.commonsensemedia.org . Thanks! |
